Gazprom to raise price of gas sold to Hungary-paper
Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom will raise the price of natural gas delivered to Hungary by 10 percent by January, daily Nepszabadsag said in its weekend edition.
The paper said gas wholesaler E.ON (EONG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) currently pays $270 per thousand cubic metres for the gas bought from Gazprom, based on a contract which Hungarian oil and gas firm MOL (MOLB.BU: Quote, Profile, Research) signed with Gazprom before MOL sold most of its gas business to E.ON.
Last year Hungary paid over $300 per thousand cubic metres due to high global oil prices, and after a decline in import prices earlier this year, Gazprom will again build in rising oil prices into the price of gas, Nepszabadsag said.
As a result, from October Hungary will pay $290 and from January more than $300 per thousand cubic metres of imported natural gas, it added.
Hungary is heavily reliant on gas and imports most of the gas it needs from Russia.
